MTV Ringtones can be accessed through MTV.com. They offer a full array of tunes, including clips from some of the more famous videos and shows seen on MTV over the years.
Their ring tones are priced between $1.99 and $2.99. The price range involves whether it is polyphonic or original, and also takes into account which telecommunications service provider you use.
Navigating the MTV Ring Tones Website
Getting around this site is pretty easy. Since it's owned by a
big entity, the site is comprehensive and well organized. There are
links to all the major types of "ringtones", including ringtones,
graphics, games, alerts, videos and MTV show highlights.
The ringtones main page at MTV.com has four major links. These include the newest ringtones, the current most popular ringtones and what is called "MTV Select ringtones". The fourth option is an internal search engine, where you can search for specific songs.
MTV Selects include snippets from your favorite Top 40 videos, including the rap, hip hop, alternative and pop genres. It also includes voicetones from MTV original shows like Laguna Beach, 8th & Ocean and Beavis & Butthead.
Graphics
Most of the graphics cost $1.99. There are lists of broken down into three categories: featured, new and most popular. There is also an internal search application for finding the wallpapers you like.
For customers who want games and applications, MTV only offers around five. This might be disappointing, but at least the games are unique to the site. The list includes The Real World House Hunt, Fanagram, Rock Paper Shizzle, THangman and Year Book Trivia.
Buying Alerts
There is also an option for buying alerts. Each of these counts as one ringtone download. The basic feature, Insider, gives customers alerts about the latest ringtones and other news. Yo Mamma Joke of the Day Alert is exactly what it sounds like, so you can be the jokeman among your circle of friends.
The other four alerts option are Laguna Beach Sneak Peak, Real World Alerts, TRL Alerts and MTV News Alerts. These are a little disappointing, since most of them are just commercials for MTV shows. The news alerts are good, if you want a constant stream of info about the music and entertainment industries.
The downloads include MTV video. This allows you to watch your favorite MTV shows on your mobile phone. All of the big shows are included in the package, and are downloadable like standard ringtones. These generally cost $2.99.
When buying ringtones from this site, remember that it may take 30-45 minutes for your account to be billed. It also may take this much time for you to recieve your downloads. So don't mistakenly order the same ringtone twice, because you might end up paying double the price for it.
