Free Ringers has a different cost structure from most other
ringtone services. Instead of a per ringtone or per monthly price,
they offer a lifetime package for $7.99. After paying this fee, you
have unlimited downloads per month for the remainder of your time as
a customer. Individual cellphone companies may charge additional
fees, but Free Ringers never will.
Freeringers.net software supports 22 different cellphone providers, including Sprint, Verizon, Cingular, AT&T Wireless, Nextel, Qwest, Cellular One, Alltel, Cricket and T Mobile. The service also works with Cincinnati Bell, Rogers, MTS, SaskTel, RCC, Aliant, Western Wireless, Fido and Dobson Cellular.
With this service, you can download ringtones and other features into 4 different phones. These phone can belong to friends or family, with no limitations.
The service offers over 25,000 ringtones, including polyphonic songs and sound effects. They offer a variety of pop songs, both old and new, as well as classical, country or jazz music.
Free Ringers also offers real music ringtones. They have a top 25 most wanted list, to help you find the most popular tones of the moment. If you prefer something a little more obscure, they offer a sitewide search engine for bands, artists or song titles.
The realtones option includes a list of genres to search through, including alternative, rap, punk, R&B, Hip-Hop and trance. There are also less contemporary categories, such as Christmas, Broadway, Disney and fight songs.

The freeringers.net website is a little difficult to navigate around. It is hard to find the contact information. Though their frequent website questionaires show they pay attention to customer needs, I find them a little intrusive when trying to get the information I need about the service.
This is one of the unique ringtone services on the internet. While they don't offer quite as large of a selection as some leading companies, their cost structure is customer friendly. You can tell the founders of the company were frustrated ringtone customers at one point.
